hi yeah hate the stupid gas I had my surgery april21st and I still have gas now im having this sharp pans under my left rib everytime I breathe. I just try to burp as much as I can if youre sitting and get the pain get up and walk around they say the more you walk the quiker you get rid of it. Yes you can take gas-x works for some people didnt for me , I went for my post op appt yesturday and the 45 minute drive didnt do me any good after I got there I couldnt sit in the waiting room ,the ride back was worse I dont know how i made it my whole back hurt, I thought i'd need an ambulance but then I let out a huge long burp and more small ones and it was relief. I can't believe the gas pain some people get it up the shoulder too. I just take the painkillers ,I start work tomorrow so hope theres not alot of gas thank goodness I stand most of the time. Goodluck.

If you do a google search on what gas is, you'll come up with your bodies way of breaking down fat and what's left is the gas that exits. So, whenever that gas comes, Rejoice! You'rer losing weight!!! lol

Gas-X will help -- comes in dissolvable strips and the pills are pretty tiny so I just used those. Walking will help alot. And, a heating pad can help when nothing else does! Walk as much as you can even if it's in small increments. hold your arms over your head even. Just moving your body will help move the gas around. Pain medicine may avoid the pain, but doesn't do anything for the gas.

A little trick I did was... heat a gel pack (wheat bag, magic bag ect.) & because my gas pain was in my low abdomen I wore 2 pair's of underwear,I then stuck the heated gel pack between the pair of underwear so it would stay snug against my tummy & i would walk, walk, walk. The heated gel pack would also come in handy for those long car rides too.Another thing I did was when I had gas pain & was to tired or sore to walk I would lay down & shake, wiggle my feet & or legs to move the gas around.good luck & keep us posted...Crystal

The gas pain was horrible for 2-3 weeks, mostly in my left shoulder. The only thing that truly helped was taking alot of Tylenol for pain. Gas-X didnt help, neither did walking, well at least for instant relief. Only the Tylenol children's chewable, taken in adult doses (ask your pharmacist).

After the gas pain, came the back pain for another week. Then it was all gone!

Unfortunately, it's been almost 6 months since my surgery, and when I have gas, I still feel it in my shoulder some days.

it's all worth it though!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
