What happens when???????

Recommended Posts

This question is for the bandsters who are veterans.

What happens when I get to the full 10cc's my band holds?

I am currently 6.5cc's in a 10cc band.

I have lost 55 lbs since being banded

I am so pleased but I am starting to worry about this question.

I have @ 70lbs to go!

I have not brought this up to my PA yet because it just started worring me.

I thought I'd reached my sweet spot but recently I've started getting hungry before time to eat.

I am exercising daily.

Drinking my daily allowance of Water.< /p>

Trying to make good choices in what I eat.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom?

Its not likely you'll get to 10cc. The more you have in your band, the less it takes at each fill to restore good restriction or to increase it a tiny bit. I dont have a 10cc band, I have a 4cc, but just to give you something to think about, I had 0.1cc put in mine last week and its reduced what I can eat by a good 1/3. Its made a HUGE difference. Appetite is not raging anymore, can only eat less than a cup. You will probably find that as you get more in your band, very small fills make much more difference. I have only had a couple of top ups as I've been maintaining for about 18 months and Fluid does sort of disappear (probably by evaporation over time) so I've really only come back up to what I was about 2 years ago, and I stayed at that level of restriction for an entire year to get down to my goal weight.

The time between fill stretches out the more you're filled too - a good level of restriction begins to last you longer and longer. Especially since weight loss does slow down a bit.

So in short, dont panic. You've plenty of wiggle room in your band yet.

Ill second everything that Jachut said in the post above. I asked my doc about the possibility of maxing out on fills. I do not recall his exact words but they were something to the effect of the bands do in fact hold more then the recommended max. I currently am filled to 9.2 in the large VG band. I had a fill exactly 2 weeks ago today. They added only .5 cc . Before i had that fill i was able to eat for example an entire healthy choice dinner. Mind you that is not very much by normal standards but for me it was alot. After this last fill i am only able to eat half of a healthy choice. So yes the more fills you have the less it takes to get the desired effect. Level of restriction also is a personal preference. Myself i prefer to keep my self restricted enough to where its impossible for me to over indulge because i still am learning not to want to eat like my former 359lb self.

Hi, I am a varily new bandster, but I need to correct something. The band will leak saline over time, it does

not evaporte. It is just like a helium ballonn. Over time,

the balloon leaks air out.

Your band is made of silicone and will leak very small

portions of saline over time harmlessly.

That is why long time bandsters will go in for a "tune up"

about once a year.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
