Weird eating...can anyone relate!

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 10/9/08 and am down about 40 pounds.

It took me a long time to get up to a restriction that had me losing weight (6cc's), but after a few weeks, that was way too tight and I ended up getting 4cc's taken out because my stomach was swollen over the top of the band.

After a week of being unfilled and on liquids, we did an x-ray and I was back to normal. I had 2 more fills over the course of a month, bringing me up to 5.5cc's.

That felt too tight and I couldn't keep a lot down, so I got .5cc taken out, bringing me down to 5cc's.

Now I can't keep down most solid foods at all. So I switch to liquids and mushies...on those days I am hungry and can snack all day!

So its either eat regular food and puke it up...or eat liquids and mushies and overeat calorie-wise because I'm hungry all day!!

WHAT THE HECK?????????????

Anyone have any suggestions???????

what size band do you have?

You are probably really close, but still just a little too tight! Try taking just a small amt more out.

That is exactly the advise I would give also. My PA says that sometimes all it takes is .25ccs to make a world of difference. Get a little at a time taken out until it is right for you.

Thanks so much for all of advice!

I called the nurse last night and she recommended the same thing, so BRAVO!

What is confusing is that I am at 5cc's right now and I know that when I was at 5 back in December, I did not feel a restriction...but now 5 is too much.

I guess it doesn't matter what was before-as long as I can feel comfortable now because this throwing up thing is for the birds!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
