HELP!! Need food advice for eating out...

Recommended Posts

My client is coming to town tomorrow and is taking me and my entire department out to lunch. We're going to PF Chang's. Since I've never been there, I looked at their menu to see what my choices are. I was just banded seven days ago. I feel fabulous, and have had no nausea, vomiting, gas, nothing. I have already started to slowly incorporate solid foods (eggs, soft cheese, Soups with noodles, etc.).

My question is this: when did you feel comfortable eating lettuce or fish? I'm thinking if I take really, really small bites and chew 30 times (at least), I can order the lettuce wraps or the mahi-mahi with no sauce.

PLEASE HELP with any suggestions. Thanks everyone!!

Yikes, I have had their lettuce wraps and they are kind of spicy... I would probably stick with one of the soups... you are still healing and you dont want to push your luck.

I would not eat anything except for the Soup. Your stomach is still healing and I would not want to risk problems. I don't know what is in the mo po tofu .. but that might be alright. The lettuce is too soon. It also has the crunch rise noodles which will be bad.

Soft solid foods 7 days out seems a little early to me. I know that every doctor has different post-op instructions, but it was definitely 3-4 weeks before solids were introduced into my post-op diet.At 3 weeks I was allowed things like scrambled eggs, soft fish, baked potatoes. Lettuce was an absolute no-no until 4-5 weeks.

I would stick with something like Egg Drop Soup.< /p>

Hope this helps.

(You may want to visit Lapband.com. This is the official website of the Lap-Band system. They have their suggested dietary guidelines for the first 5 weeks after surgery.)

Wow, I would hate to wait three weeks for some eggs! My DR said soft solid foods were okay at 7 days...thank God cuz' I'm hungry!!! My first thought was that I just shouldn't go, but it's MY client... I still might bow out. I am seeing my DR tomorrow morning, and he might tell me not to go...we'll have to wait and see.

Thanks again!! Love this chat-room...

I went to PF Changs four days post op. I had the egg drop soup....that was just the safest bet. I would not have dared anything more at that stage of banding.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
