bloom 2 Posted April 28, 2009 I have been trying to get pregnant since the begining of this year. I am really starting to get frustrated becuase I didn't think that it would be this hard. I have a 4 year old and I swear I got pregnant the 1st time we tried. Just wondering if anyone had a harder time getting pregnant after having the band. I haven't been on any type of birth conrtol for over 5 years. Any suggestions?? I think I am going to bo buy one of those ovulation kits to see if that helps. CaliGirl626 0 Posted April 28, 2009 I had a problem getting pregnant prior to the band. I found out I had PCOS, and with diabetes, it makes it a lot harder to get pregnant. if you want to spend $ buying an ovulation kit, go for the best one: Clearblue monitor. I bought it and after 2 months of using it, I got pregnant. I bought that machine because 3 of my friends had it and all of them were able to get pregnant within a couple of months of using the machine. You will have to spend close to $ 200 to buy the machine and the pee sticks. But I think it's worth it! Now I'm 33 weeks preggo. Only a couple more weeks to go before I get to see my little chubby cheeks baby.
Anyalee 0 Posted April 29, 2009 The band helped me out a lot, but I also used an ovulation kit and took metformin to regulate my periods. We got pregnant the first try after all three of these...
eejaydiva 3 Posted April 30, 2009 bloom, I don't know your age, but keep in mind some simple statistics. It takes perfectly healthy couples aged 22-30 an average of 6 months to successfully concieve. So technically you're only on month 4, maybe month 5. I know that I went utterly bonkers TTC and it took us about 5 months. I didn't have any diagnosed fertility issues, other than totally wacky cycles, sometimes going 30, 45, or 90 days between periods. Weight loss really helped regulate my cycles, and I spent $17 a month on Answer brand ovulation test strips for about 3 months. After 3 months, I knew the days i would ovulate and got pregnant the next month. If you're like the rest of us, chances are that you are still on your weight loss journey, and extra fat does tend to decrease your fertility, but don't worry about how long it's taking to get preg, you're still well within normal range. Good luck and baby dust!
