So, tomorrow is 3 weeks post-op and I am just not ever hungry.

I can eat, but I pretty much have to force myself to eat.

I tried to wait it out yesterday to see when i would be hungry and I started to feel light headed before I was actually hungry - so I ate.

I guess this is a blessing, but I have not heard anyone else talk about this.

Anyone else experiencing this?

It is normal to have no appetite after surgery. The length of time depends on how much swelling you have. Unfortunately, I got my appetite back at around day 7 but I have seen others on this site that didn't get theirs back for a month. Don't wait until you are dizzy, get some nutrition in at least 3 times a day, take your supplements and enjoy this blessing while you have it 'cause it ain't no fund when the hungries come back and you still have weeks till you can eat solids or have a fill

After I was first banded I never felt hunger! I would feel a rumbling sensation in my tummy, but did not feel hunger.

I do feel some hunger now, but I have to have not eaten for a long time to feel this feeling. I do however have boughts with head hunger...which means I am not really hungry, but I have a craving for something.

I am almost five months post-op, the hunger I sometimes feel is NOTHING like before!! I used to always be hungry and could eat everything on my plate plus more. Now I rarely feel hunger and I can eat one cup of food and be stuffed!

Now, not everyone is this way. Some people are starving from the very beginning. Luckily I have never felt that way, and I truly hope it stays like that.

Everyone is different and has a different reaction to the band, I have felt very lucky that I do not feel hunger as I used to!!

Good luck !

You will get your appetite back unfortunately it doesn't last for long, but once you get back on solids and into a routine you will find that you aren't as obsessed about food as you used to be and that you don't constantly think about it.

I feel the same way! I was banded on 4/6 just over 3 weeks ago and I have to tell myself it's time to eat even though I'm not hungry. I feel like I could eat once a day and be happy but I know I can't do that.

It's a weird feeling to not be hungry, quite the opposite of the way I used to be! I'm sure part of it is that I'm on crappy mushy/pureed food stage and nothing is very appealing to me. I'm assuming next week when I'm on soft foods I'll be more interested when I can more normal things like cheese, deli meat, small amounts of toast, veggies, etc...

You're not alone!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
