blackjack120 0 Posted April 28, 2009 does anyone have any info on the psych eval before surgery:confused:
hsj 0 Posted April 28, 2009 Are you familiar with the MMPI? The testing I took lasted 2.5 hours. It was some yes and no questions and some rating type questions. Go in and be honest. The doctor is seeing if you are ready for the commitment of the Lap Band and to see if you need any further assistance. I was real nervous about, the fear of the unknown. But it was not that bad. LoriPA 4 Posted April 29, 2009 yeah don't stress the psych eval they basically want to make sure you have realistic expectations. That's pretty much what mine was; they asked some basic questions about what I knew about lap band surgery and what my expectations were of it. Then I was asked what my goal weight was (145-150 lbs), and if I had any other concerns about the surgery and other things following it. The whole evaluation took about an hour. WendyII 0 Posted April 29, 2009 I had to take the MMPI and then sit with a Psychologist for about an hour, which turned out to be very helpful as he's seen a lot of patients who have gastric bands. Don't worry about it. It's just another hurdle that you have to jump in order to get your band.
