Has anyone ever tried ZETACAP?

Recommended Posts

This is an herbal supplement advertisement that comes up when you do a google search on bariatric surgery or Lap-Band. Of course like most of us know...many of these ads carry with them many dollars of false hope. I've sure been there and done that enough times that I don't want to go there again! Please let me know if you kow anything about this.

Thanks a million!

Cheri

yeah i agree with Parvathi they are all a load of crap

i have tried every pill there is and yes i lose the weight, but then it all comes back on again plus more kilos on top of what i originally started with!

I seriously dont think a herbal supplement will work its all just a money making scheme.

Go with the band you know that works if you follow the steps and eat healthy!!

Don't waste your time and money on those things. If you need to feel full eat foods enriched with Fiber. Also remember Protein keeps you fuller longer.

Most importantly is to learn good eating habbits that will last your life time, quick fixes are just that.

HUGS !!!

I agree with everyone else. I have been taking something called a Superfood Multiple (multiple vitamin) and I noticed how much less I eat when I'm taking it, and how much fuller I stay for longer. Maybe it boils down to my body getting the Vitamins it needs, and not feeling like I need to gulp a ton of food down to get them.

Now that I'm banded, I'd be afraid of taking zetacap or anything like it. Isn't that the one that's supposed to expand in your stomach to make you feel full? Well that pouch doesn't stretch much, can you imagine the pain if that stuff expanded in the pouch? ow ow ow

Think about it this way... if it really worked wouldn't it be all over the markets.

I haven't been banded yet...waiting for hubby to come around!

What's holding him back? Is it the money, the surgery, the risks?

My hubby wasn't too keen on the idea when I first approached him with it. I'm quite persistent though lol. He finally agreed to let me go to an information evening to find out more. He made my mom go with me, as she's a nurse and he trusts her judgement. She had her reservations before the information evening, but when we got in the car to go home, she was all for it.

After that, he came around. I was lucky though, in the fact that my insurance covered most of it. All we had to pay out of pocket was $3000.00.

Discuss it with him. Have him list what concerns he has, then come up with a list to counter his.

Good luck, with whatever you decide :D

Gosh, darn it! I was looking for an easy way out now that I'm "bandless". Grrrr. It does sound too good to be true ...."The Gastric Bypass Pill". I think I'll try a bottle. I'll also try the Metamucil before meals - that was good advice. Thanks Ira!

I tried something like that. It was guaranana root or something. It is a Water soluble Fiber that swells in your stomach. No you cant eat much. But oh, it was nasty. Nasty burping, nasty gas, nasty cramps, nasty "bowel fireworks" (as my husband called the horrible diarrehea it gave me)

No, not a good fix.

This is probably really appropo of nothing...but I've disclosed before that I was a raging bulimic for about 10 years.... In the heat of it there was a website that I used to frequent that was populated with anorexics and other eating disordered girls.

The anorexics *swear* by Metamucil for curbing hunger and helping them to feel full. Odd bit of endorsement I know.

But I guess that means it could work if taken in reasonable doses....I tried it a few times but it makes me poop so much it's hard to consider taking Metamucil very often......

yes, I tried zetacap. I bought them on Ebay. they were horrible kept making me feel like i had to burp really bad. Did not work, did not take the hunger away. I guess the burp feeling was supposed to be a sense of being full. it appeared i had indigestion or gas.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

We have to remember that everyone moves at their own pace. For some it may be harder to adjust, people may have other factors at play that feed into the unhealthy relationship with food e.g. eating disorders, trauma. I'd hope those who you are referring to address this outside of this forum, with a professional.

This is a place to feel safe to vent, seek advice, hopefully without judgement.

Compassion goes a long way :)

Seems it would be more compassionate not to perform a WLS on someone until they are mentally ready for it. Unless of course they are on death's door...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
