question about calorie intake

Recommended Posts

I haven't had a fill since January and I still feel restricted. I cannot tolerate any meat, processed meat, fish or any bread product whatsoever. I am down to 157 but I haven't lost even a pound in an entire month! I do not eat sugary Desserts either. I can pretty much eat fruit, vegetables, yogurt, Beans, eggs and sometimes salads. Some days I cannot eat until noon!

So....my question is this. Exactly how many calories am I supposed to be consuming now? I'm not eating junk food, sodas, coffee drinks, etc so how come I'm not loosing! Yes, I exercise. I'm still restricted - even cottage cheese is hard to swallow sometimes! Anyone got an idea for me?? Thanks!!

It sounds like you are too tight.

My patients can eat a wide variety of foods, including meats...and they lose weight to boot! They are happy!

If you sat down at dinner with my nurse, you'd never know that she was banded.

Best of luck,

Dr. Vuong

Hi DoctorVuong. I guess like balletgirl, I am too tight. I have trouble with many of the foods that she listed and my band is VERY tight until about noon or 1:00. It seems like I went from having NO restriction and being able to eat anything and everything (of course less of it all) to having problems with food, and PBing pretty often. How hard is it to get to that EXACT spot where you can eat all types of food and feel full for a long time on a small amount? I was using JUST willpower for months before I felt any restriction (and we all know if we could do that forever, we wouldn't need the band) to now at least being limited on what I can eat and how much. But I would love to be able to do my part and have the band do its part and eat like a normal person, only with much smaller portions. It is very nice to see you on here and I would appreciate any words of advice you can give me. Thank you. Becky

Hi! Just to answer the calorie intake I was told 800 cal a day by my doctor. I am a lot like you, although some days are less restricted then others.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
