had surgery on april 20th. today felt really good and went grocery shopping. did not lift any thing heavier than 10 pound probably only about 5. just lots of trips from car to house. 1 bag at a time. (hubby golfing...not happy with me when he got home).

now i have a little nagging dull ache in middle of belly.

does not really hurt just i feel something.

i go to doctors on april 29 for post op appt.

anyway anyone else do lots of stuff to early?

or anyone have a opinion what i did.

i would think if band came lose it would hurt and i would know.

thanks

You're probably just tired. Rest tonight and see how you feel tomorrow. If you didn't lift over about 15 pounds any one time, you're most likely fine!

AND...the odds of your band coming loose just because you did what you described are astronomical. It might slip or loosen if you ate the wrong foods too early (becaused of the churning of the stomach during digestion) but not because you just "carried" the food in!

If you still hurt tomorrow by all means call your doc; otherwise take some tylenol and rest tonight and you should be ok!

I also had surgery on the 20th and I still feel bad. I had a bad pain on my right side just a little above my bigger incision. I can feel a lump there and I am wondering if that is where my port is....I can't stand up straight either because I feel like I get shooting pains there....I haven't done too much I am following my liquid diet and I have started wondering if I have made a huge mistake...even though I researched this completely. My incision looks fine so I know it is something inside.

You are 7 days post op, you are healing. The pain is going to get better, I swear it will. You prot is attached to the muscles of your stomach. It is going to take time for your body to adjust to the "foriegn object." I couldn't say for sure if that is your port or maybe scar tissue or a hematoma *sp. But I seriously doubt it is anything to be concerned about.

Keep following the Dr's protocal and remember, this is only temporary, you aren't going to feel like this forever!!!

I noticed that I was sore like that - I think it is an "I overdid it" type of ache, you know? I had to carry my new baby post op and she was 13 lbs at the time...I noticed I would get sore after awhile. (luckily I had a lot of help and didn't have to carry her a lot!)

hang in there!

hi i got banded April 21 i did the same thing went to the store n stuff but i dot think thats the problem your supposed to walk, I went to my post op today and I did feel like dull pains and when I was in the waiting rm I got it so bad I couldnt sit, well I also keep feeling like this feeling where the port is especially in the morning , anyway the Dr. said it was probably too tight cause he fills it a bit during the surgery so he unfilled it a bit and now its much better but after I drove myself home (long drive) I started getting the gas pain from the anethesia so bad I almost didnt make it home. I thought if it didnt go away I was gonna call an ambulance. Anyway, I was able to burp it away and took some darvocet. I would advice you not to drive yourself yet. I've been mainly home and so i'm up and down and burping alot but when I have to sit too long im in pain. Goodluck.

I was banded on 03/30/09 about 3 to four days I also went grocery shopping. Well that did not hurt, and because it did not hurt I started my work out back and started walking and then I went to the gym and that is when my troubles started. About a week after sugery I was doing so much I ended up in the ER I was hurting so bad. They took an X-ray and said everything was great just to calm down. I was doing too much too fast. I have a hard head but I have learned just because I am feeling good does not mean everything is okay. Take you time.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
