I am in mourning...

Recommended Posts

You see I have lost my best friend.. I have never had a friend that did not judge me, Loved me no matter what. THis friend was always there for me, to Celebrate the good times to cry over the bad times.Supported me in everything I ever did.

I can not recall a time or place or family occasion where my friend was not a BIG part of.

My friend took on many shapes in my life and has many names...

candy, cake, chips, Fried food.Big portions. Etc< Etc

I will mourn for my loss as it is all I had ever known,

But now I will learn a new way of life without my friend, my crutch. food

I really am mourning food.. But I am only 5 days out from being banded and I have so much to learn about my new friend ( The Band) I will name it at some point. Just waiting to see its personality...lol

Sorry all I had to write this as i am hungry today. and not in a great mood and would have normally turned to eating. Instead I turned to writing this...

Thanks

Amy

Good job Amy. There is, indeed, a mourning for the loss of food the way it used to be. Your friendship will change and grow in ways you cannot predict. But it will be better. You won't be so dependant. Food won't be so demanding a friend. Your relationship will be better in the end. (((((((hugs)))))))))

Sweet Amy, so many of us know exactly what you are saying, even us that are not banded yet. Lots of times I think about how I will get through this Christmas when everyone is celebrating the usual way and I won't be allowed to.

I can only pray for strength and iI have to remember, life is worth more than some cakes or Cookies. I believe in our struggles, the end results will taste so much better than any thing you can put on a plate :(

HUGS TO YOU !!!!

Your gonna do wonderful :D

My band is named Katrinka. I got this from Jack calling his band a "little silicone fist". I visualize her like a little Russian ballerina. Delicate, powerful. And when I PB'd a week ago, petulant and stamping her little foot "nyet!" lol. Okay, I'm a writer so of course I had to give her a whole story.

I also mourn food. I wish when I was bored I could just eat. It was always a great way to pass the time. I wish when I was sad I could eat and eat lots. For some reason that oh so full feeling always gave me comfort. But I cannot and some days I reel in desperation. But I've learned that this is a day by day process. Today it may go easy, tomorrow the roughest thing I've known. I learn. And slowly I'm breaking that bond I had to food.< /p>

It was a friend for a lot of years, but it was a bad friend. It made me feel good for a few moments then turned on me and made me feel bad, very bad. And you know what, I deserve a better friend than that. And her name is Katrinka.

Thanks Everyone :(

Amy, I have decided to avoid situations this year that will put me infront of big tables loaded with goodies. I've already told my DH that I will not be cooking any thing but the normal thanksgiving dinner, which is turkey and stuffing...thats it. Do you remember the movie the nutty professor with eddy murphy??? well remember what their dinner table looked like??? thats exactly what the holidays look like in my house. This year, its gonna be simple, very simple.

Usually at work we have party after party for Christmas. Guess who's gonna fake being sick for most of them. :P:) :) I really don't want to put myself in those situations right off the bat if you know what I mean. Besides, there's always next year when I can enjoy a nibble or 2 with them.

Dee Dee its a strange feeling meeting this man. I'm so nervous, like I'm going on a job interview and I want this job in the worst way LOL. I went thru all those things in my signature w/no problem but tomorrow while I'm driving to his office, I know I'm gonna have the hershey squirts LOLOL.

You mean I'm NOT a brick house already (HAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAA) jk

That lady's stacked and its a fact ~~~~~~

THANK YOU Dee Dee :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
