Well, the juice to ceviche is a citrus brine mixture and I can see where it could cause diahrrea for sure. Dumping syndrome is worse. A friend who had gastric bypass describe it to me when I asked her, back when I was considering GB surgery for myself. She said that sweets are a likely trigger for dumping and what happened to her was she ate a piece of birthday cake (with all that gooey butter cream frosting) and in a very little while had to rush to the bathroom and literally everything in her digestive tract came out. Undigested food, partially digested food, stuff in her colon, everything. She gave a more graphic description but let me just say "gross".

Lower left side of your belly area? Not much there to hurt (appendix, gallbladder, etc are on the right side), so I'll ask, "how long since you were banded?" I'm nearly 3 months out and I still have periodic tenderness around my port area. Could that be the pain? Could it be ovulation pain? A lot of women are never aware of when they ovulate and then one month, they feel it. The source of the pain is something you do need to discuss with your doctor. Good luck!

I am 10 days post op and have recovered amazingly from surgery. Yesterday, I had a pain in my side that was so excruciating, I thought I was going to die...It was a stabbing pain and it only when I was in a certain position. It is gone today (thank God) but I think it was a gas pocket. Perhaps that's what yours is? I exercised like heck yesterday to make sure that if it was gas, it was gone!

I am 5 days post op and I have left side pain when I walk. I also experienced a liquid in liquid out suprise on one of my walks after I had drank some apple juice. I have had alot more pain then I had expected and have taken alot more pain medication then I would have liked but it is getting better day by day and I still force myself to get out and walk. I have pain after eating especially if I take in too much too fast and I don't really notice until I stand up so maybe it is positional. I'm still learning how much to drink and what to drink, obviously apple juice isn't something I will be drinking anymore.

Thanks for your responses. To parrotheadCathy I did not have diarreah or vomiting. These were my symptoms..clamy, dry heaves, numbness in my fingers, dry mouth felt like my belly was going to burst. Also i did not eat ANY sweets. It was weird. My sis had the gastric bypass and she told me dumping syndrome symptoms. again thx for your answers.

Hi, I am six weeks out. However when I joined my co-workers in the power walk in the fourth or fifth week, I also got left side pain around my belly area. My port is located about 1 or 2 inches above my belly bottom, so I guess the pain was in my port area. The pain was not bad and manageable, but it was certainly very uncomfortable. We never walked last week so I don't know if I will still have tenderness around my port when I walk fast again.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
