I had surgery on 2/10. I lost 23 pounds pre-op. I have had 2 fills and have lost 28 more pounds since surgery. I haven't lost anything in over a week. My next fill is this coming Tuesday and I think I need it to get going again. I presently have 4.1cc in a 10cc band. I have a Slim Fast Low Carb for Breakfast (because I like the taste and it's easy when I'm getting ready for work). For lunch I usually have a salad, a can of Soup and some low fat cheese and a couple of crackers. Late afternoon I have some fruit because otherwise I have to wait way too long between lunch and dinner. Then at dinner, I cook a lean meat (steak, pork tenderloin, chicken, fish), a steamed vegetable and sometimes a small portion of carbs. Tonight I went out to dinner at a seafood restaurant and had steamed shrimp and a small salad and a baked potato. Hope that helps.

Wow, 50lbs is a good chunk of weight to lose. Great job! You probably just need more of a fill. However, our bodies need time to adjust to each chunk of weight we lose. I, too, lose a bit and then stop for awhile, then I'm off to losing again. Are you getting hungry between meals? Are your portion sizes fairly generous? Are you exercising? How much Water are you drinking? If you are doing your exercising, getting in your water, but are eating larger portions and getting hungry between meals, then I would call the doctor for a slight fill. Good luck!

Hi Snow, losing 50 lbs after surgery has already made you ahead of the same. I have only lost around 17 lbs since the surgery. I have had two fills. After the first fill, I also didn't have any restriction and was eating more and more. I just got my second fill on Friday and it was only 0.5 cc. I have been so hungry since I had to stay on liquid both yesterday and today. From what I heard in the forum, most people won't get the restriction until the third fill. I think you need get another fill.

Most people need more than one fill to feel any good restriction. Many say it's 4 or more. I was just lucky to have good restriction after 2, but the first was lg.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
