Hi Neil. I'm getting banded on May 12th. I have to do 3 weeks of a pre-op diet of 2 Protein Shakes and 1 Protein Bar a day. Today is day number 4 and it has been a long couple of days! They tell me that it gets easier after the first few days and I'm sure hoping that is true. What do you have to do for your pre-op?

My Pre-Op is 5 shakes a day, the first few days were hard but after that I was OK, even went to a friends House Warming party yesterday there was a big crowd there and they made some great looking BBQ food, but I was not tempted to indulge, they also had a lot of booze on the go and me Originally being from Scotland (we like our beer)never even touched a drop.

Stick with it it gets easier and it will be worth it in the long run!!

Hey Neil, welcome! I'm being banded on the 6th, just 1 week from today! I can't believe how fast time is flying. It'll be here before we know it. We have a May support group May 09 Bandsters - Lap Band Surgery and Lap Band Discussion Forum come by and say hi.

I've also added you to our dates only thread, come by and see who you will be banded with at http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f18163/mayo-banditos-dates-only-91909/index3.html

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
