It has been 5 weeks since my surgery and I am still feeling pain around my large incision. Especially if I bend over. Is this normal? Today I mowed the lawn and now I am hurting really bad.

oops, you are still healing my dear so take it easy. Your large incision will be the last thing to heal and you shouldn't be doing anything physical except walking until at least 6 wks have passed. And for a few weeks more don't do anything that involves the abdominal area too much, which lawn mowing actually does.

I think my incision was completely healed, with absolutely NO soreness, around week 11 or 12. Now that I'm at week 15, I think I'll start doing targeted ab exercises. :-D

i know how you feel! I am 5 weeks post op and I too still have sorness around my port when I do too much. I find that I forget about my surgury bc most of the time it doesn't hurt, but as soon as I do something strenuous... boom the soreness is totally there!

good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
