TIGHT mornings :)

My band is at perfect restriction for maximum results right now, and I'm a very happy with that. BUT the mornings are not so fun. Things are pretty tight, and I noticed I was avoiding eating until it 'loosened up' which is a huge no-no, I know!

SO I have been eating a lot of carb control oatmeal, soy milk, kefir and yogurt since it's all liquids. Any other ideas?

I have always been tight in the mornings, no matter what restriction I'm at...even when I was completely unfilled once for a month.

I just usually drink a slim fast shake. With good restriction it takes me about an hour to get it all down, with looser restriction maybe about 10 minutes.

I used to worry about it, but now not so much. I have to watch in the evenings though because I can normally eat more. If I eat more in night time, then in the morning my restriction is usually worse.

Hi!

I'm tight in the mornings, too - sometimes even oatmeal won't go down...

I've resorted to cream of wheat and grits (luckily I LOVE those) and occasionally a Protein shake.

Sometimes mid-morning I'll have something more solid with some Protein in it, but not too often. Yogurt (I love Greek yogurt) goes down pretty easily, but I'm wary of having too many potential "sliders"...

Other ideas? I'm hoping to hear more, too...

I have problems eating in the morning due to "tightness" as well. One of my employees is a health food nut and has me hooked on this blended drink which helps me get something down in the A.M.:

1 frozen banana ( I freeze my old bananas in a ziploc bag for this) a fresh banana makes a world of difference

Approx. 5-6 unsweetented frozen strawberries

1/8 cup unsweetened cranberries

1/8 cup unsweetented frozen blueberries

2-3 tablespoons "balkan style" greek plain yogurt (this yogurt makes the drink fabulous)

add unsweetened apple juice (or your favorite juice) to cover berries in blender and mix well. You might want to add more juice to make you're smoothie "runny" so that it goes down easier.

If you want to add plain Protein powder to this you can (I have never tried it with it, I hate Protein drinks, however plain may be great in it?? If you try it with Protein, please let me know how it tastes.

I sip this from a "to-go" cup all morning and it fills me up.

I hope you like it! :)

I had problems as well in the morning and oatmeal would definitely make me uncomfortable.

However, after a time I just either drank a low-carb slimfast from the fridge . . . or like on the weekends, I would drink something hot, wait a while, take a test bite, wait 5 minutes and then I could eat a little.

The test bite was needed for me because I have first bite syndrome where the first bite might stick unless I give it a few minutes to settle. The process of allowing it to settle seems to open me up a little more.

I think this is pretty universal. I can eat in the mornings but its harder than at night, I dont really fancy much and really only make myself do it becuase otherwise i will be looking at muffins at 11 am.

Yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies, very occasionally muesli if I feel like tackling it and rather than toast, i do like a crispbread or two with Peanut Butter and honey - the crisp texture is OK for me.

I look at eggs, or bacon and stuff like that and they make me feel sick. Plus I'm indoctrinated into the fact that such a breakfast is fattening and unhealthy, whilst overly processed grain cereals are not, lol. I know that's rubbish but its too ingrained in my head.

I can't and don't eat a darned thing for breakfast. I drink an Atkins shake for breakfast every morning. I'm not too concerned about it being a "slider" because a. I don't even want to eat breakfast and b. it doesn't seem to affect my satiety--I already feel satiated in the morning.

Hi, just my 2 cents- i'm too busy in the morning to eat. i do drink a milk/ slimfast or Protein Powder shake and coffee- sip on both for up to 2 hours. About mid morning i may have a yogurt , or not. By noon, I can usually eat a bit. I, too find it more difficult in the AM if I ate more at night. Another person w/ LBS I know focuses on nuts for a mid Am snack.< /p>

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
