Unfill required for plastic surgery

Recommended Posts

Wondering something.... It took me 17 years to pack on all the weight so I know that just because I've arrived at my new weight-it's not over. Gonna take time to make this permanent as it will be easy to slip back into old habits and gain weight.

That said, I maintain restriction still to prevent me from overeating.

I'm having plastic surgery done on my nose and am wondering if I should get an adjustment to unfill some so that I won't risk sliming - don't want to hurt my nose.

When they say this is a process-they aren't kidding! I'll be doing great and then I'll have an episode where I ate too much, didn't chew enough-whatever and I'll slime.

Anyone have restriction when they have surgery? Or was everyone pretty much NOT relying on the band at all?

Hi:

I'm scheduled for abdominoplasty on 5/14/09. My lapband surgeon wants me to have a total unfill the day before surgery and he said he'll refill the following week or when I'm up to it. I have big nausea issues with anesthesia so I believe that he's doing total unfill because of the high possibility of vomiting after anesthesia. I am pretty tight now. I think that lapband surgeons vary on their methods, so please ask your doctor.

Hope all goes well for you.

Hi, I am considering which WL procedure I prefer...Lap Band high on the list. Can you tell me how one would handle nausea with vomiting when your band is not unfilled?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
