Had my first fill today, think i need more

Recommended Posts

I had surgery on the 3ed of March and ever since i could eat solid food I haven't really had any restriction so today I finally got to go see my surgeon and get a fill everything went well A little stinging but that was it. He put in 2cc and i'm eating dinner now and I can still eat just as much as before. I dont know what i should do, should I call him and be like I can't tell a difference at all with the fill..etc. or wait a little while or what. Anyone gone through this. Im at 197 and i was 208 surgery day. Thats not a lot of loss there. I think i need like a 4cc fill or more.

Chillax there girlie.

Sometimes fills can take a few days to take affect. And see how it feels in the morning. Mornings are always tighter for most people.

You have plenty of time to lose weight. You'll find your sweetspot. Don't give up hope.

Though I do understand your disappointment. Expecting something you didn't get is always frustrating.

Hang in there.

Hi Ashley I had my first fill today also ... although on liquids today and mushies tomorrow ..back on solids after that.

Dont know if of help I was advise whats best is to avoid any easy foods , ie mushy easy eating types , as when restriction is low these very easily slip thro the band. He told me to eat more solid types and lots of veg , as these should remain in pouch longer and the feeling of fullness greater and for longer.

Now I know only words as not eating solids yet , I have yet to put into practice.

Either way I would hang in there .. what might seem an easy day today , might be different tomorrow when eating something different . I think best to treat as a learning curve initially and for a few days .. then im sure like me we will get to know our limitations if any or downfalls ....

wishing you every success

oohh and Juli 188lbs .... thats the way to go Girl , congrats on you weight loss

I have my first fill on Monday the 27th. I also haven't had any issues with food other than not chewingmy food enough. I am worried that my fist fill wont be enough. Glad to hear it only stung a little. I to am a little disappointment that I haven't lost more. But from everything I have read on this web site everyone it different and everything we are going through is perfectly normal. Keep in touch if you want.

Hi. I had NO restriction after my surgery, NONE after my first fill, and NONE after my second fill. The third one was the one that made a big difference. After reading about people's fills on here, and from my own experiences, it can take a few days, or even a week or two, for the full effect of a fill to be felt. My doctor gave me my fills 1 month apart - and no sooner. Wait and see if you feel any different as time goes by, try different foods, etc. It is hard to wait and just rely on good old willpower until you get restriction, but you will get there. Just takes a little time and a little patience. Good luck to you!! Becky

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
