Company asked to Reschedule Surgery so it's more convenient for them

Recommended Posts

 Boy that is typical for HR / Payroll departments. I worked in HR and payroll for the last 10 -15 years of my employment. I am retired now. It seems that since you work in HR or Payroll you are expected to give up your personal needs and put the companies and other employee's needs in front of your own. No WAY!

I think what your wife did was the exactly correct thing to do. If you want to look up the labor laws go to: www.texaslaborlaws.com . Look under Time off, and Family Medical Leave (FMLA). Besure to check out FMLA. That is a Federal Law that they must honor.

Let me know how it goes. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Keep on...Keep'n on.

Your wife should ask for a raise. If she is so indispensable that her surgery has caused this much angst, then the rest of her office must be really incompetent. LOL Seriously, though, companies HAVE to do cross-training and have some redundancy in employee skills so that it is not such a big deal if someone has to be out for sickness/injury/vacation/etc. They are being ridiculous by asking her to postpone her surgery. I'm glad she stood up for herself.

There is work and there is life. Life ALWAYS comes first. Unless by being gone from a job someone will die, it is NOT that important. I never let work dictate my life for me. I come first.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
