It has been 5 months since my surgery and I have this itch that gets so bad some times at night that it wakes me up. I've seen that silicone allergies are rare, anyone have any ideas? Sometimes there are small hives, most of the time there is nothing to see. Anti itch lotion helps but I have to put it on several locations because the itch isn't localized. Surgeon doesn't think it is related to the band.

I had gallbladder surgery more than 20 years ago....when they cut you from your sternum nearly all the way down to your appendix....and I had the same issues with the scar area. It itched like crazy for years. But it improved slowly and now doesn't bother me at all.

How is your weightloss?

I was terribly itchy as I was losing weight mainly in areas where I carried the most weight, stomach, thighs, breasts etc. I would leave marks from scratching so much. I think it was due to the skin shrinking back due to the melting fat. It has lessened since my weight loss is not so rapid anymore.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
