I seem to have hit my second plateau since having my lap band surgery. The first time it happened, I was told to change up my diet. That worked and now I am stuck again with my weight. It seems to get very frustrating and disappointing, but I know in time my weight will continue to drop and I need patience. I just wondered if it has happened to anyone out there?

I'm right there with you.

I have lost and gained the same 2lbs for the last few weeks. What did help me, in terms of how I view it, was that I noticed I had lost 7 lbs over the last 30 day period.

I used Calorie Count to log my food and weight and when I saw that I felt better....BUT still no movement for a long time is depressing. I hear you! If you find the answer please share.

The Queen of Plateaus...:rolleyes2:

Are you exercising? Are you eating small meals frequently? Are you eating Protein first, then other things? These are questions you should ask first. If you are doing all the right things then you should meet with your surgeon and talk to him or get another fill. If that doesn't work perhaps meeting with a nutritionist will help. I know plateaus are terrible, but keep you head up and think optimistically. Good luck and let me know how your doing.

try changing up your routine, exercise routine, food routine, etc. see if that helps to get you out of your rut. sometimes eating higher carlorie/higher fat foods breaks me out of my ruts. my body for whatever reason thinks it's going to starve itself and it holds onto whatever it can and I find that when I eat something a little higher in fat and calories the next day i'm down 2 lbs.

good luck!

Hey there!

How long have you been plateaud for? I have noticed I lose 5-9 pounds at one time and then kind of just maintain that for a few weeks and then start again. It really doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but I am o.k. going with is. Good luck!! Like someone else asked- are u excersing? That really makes a big difference, also.

Thank you for all your input. I have been increasing my treadmill time to 2.5 miles at least 3 times a week, and changing up my diet, still nothing. I wonder if my fill was too tight last time. I feel I am not eating as much as I should, and when I try to I start sliming or it all comes back up. It has been one month since my last Dr. visit and I have lost one pound. I feel very discouraged.

I am in the same 'boat'. Had my first fill 4 weeks ago and have lost 2 pounds and gone back and forth with those two. I know I have to increase exercise...I know I'm getting sufficient Protein intake...and, I know, since my fill, eating is difficult and many times part of it appears for a second vote! Very frustrating!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
