lacasst 1 Posted April 22, 2009 I'm about 5 1/2 months out from my band and just got over the stomach flu.Wow that was something terrible, let me tell you.My body wanted to vomit and was trying to vomit and nothing would come out? I'm assuming that's because whatever is in the bottom part of the stomach cant really fit back thru the stoma?? Wow was that painful!! On the plus side I couldn't & didn't want to eat for almost 2 days & I dropped a quick 5 lbs!! anyone else's experience's?? I would love to hear...and I def. know the diff. now between pb & actually vomitting!!
mljalways 1 Posted April 22, 2009 My doc told me to come get unfilled at the first sign of the stomach flu. Glad you are better now.
lacasst 1 Posted April 22, 2009 I know...you dont think I could have damaged anything do you??
socalfosh 17 Posted April 23, 2009 My doc said the same thing. I had the flu about 4 months post op and I was violently throwing up for hours. Then it did the same as you, dried out and I throwing up nothing. The thing is, when the stomach is forcing anything up like that it can damage the band site. It can slip or pull away from your stomach. I didn't go to the doc either but I called and they weren't happy with me that I didn't go in. They made go in a liquid diet for 48 hours to make sure the strain on my stomach was fully recovered then I had to have my next fill under fluro to make sure all was still good. In the future I will go in ASAP, it's not worth the risk. I hope you are feeling better.
