I haven't tried Alli, but a friend did and lost 27 pounds and kept it off. This was a year ago.

I have been thinking about it, just for a few weeks to kick start a weight loss. I'd ask my doctor first, but wanted to see if any lapbanders have taken it.

Anyone take this after banding? If so, what happened? Anything good, or bad side effects? :)

Thanks.

Well I haven't tried Alli no, I've heard it has a nasty side effect - so I never gave it a shot. I know what you mean though, needing a kick start.

I've been taking the Slim Shots, comes in a blue box and they look like little coffee Creamers. I give it 4 of 5 stars! It would be a 5 if it weren't for the terrible taste. Maybe you could try those too. It really helps alot with hunger, and that for me included head hunger. food just doesn't seem all that appealing after drinking the stuff. It coats your stomach with natural oils, and maybe it calms the ghrelin? I don't know but it works for me. That along with exercise and the band keeping me from eating too much, I seem to be headed in the right direction again.

THANK GOODNESS FINALLY!

LOL!!

Best of luck, I know it can be really dumpy when things stall.

I haven't heard of those...where do you get them? I got a fill last Monday and that does help with how much I eat, but I am still trying to jump start a huge number like I used to have right after being banded.

Just got back from the gym, as a matter of fact. I feel much better AFTER going...it's the getting there that I drag my feet.

I find them in the Diet Aide section of Rite Aid. Not sure which drug stores you have near you, but I'm pretty positive they can be found there. Maybe Walgreens?

Great job on the workout! I still am like that too - getting started is tough, but once I start and by the time I'm done I'm feeling great... LOL!

See you can meet with your nutritionist. She put me on a modified low glycemic food plan to break a plateau and I had a 9 pound weight loss the month after.

I tried so many diet drugs in the past, that I am very hesitant to try any of them anymore.

Okay, bought Slim Shot this weekend.

They smell and taste like playdough! I took my first one this morning, and I couldn't eat my lunch. I had yogurt instead.

I was kinda hungry, but I'd brought leftover meat from the festival yesterday and it just didn't look appealing to me at all. And I am a meat eater. I love it. So, I had my yogurt, then later I had some Water and coffee and I'm fine.

So, I'm not sure if that was the slim shots or if I just didn't feel like eating today. (ha ha ha....yeah, RIGHT.)

I'll keep you updated as I go through the box.

They're not the cheapest things in the world to take 2 like they suggest, so I'll probably start taking them at dinner, since it's the evenings that the munchies start for me.

Thanks!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
