New Bicycle

Recommended Posts

I'm being banded in less than a week (04/28/2009) and I want to start riding a bicycle for exercise, once I'm given the OK.

I'm currently about 330 pounds. does anyone have an opinion on what brand/model bike would be good for a larger rider. It will mainly be used for in-town riding with some hills. I would also be cool if I could use it on some mild trails (rails-to-trails). I'm probably looking for a comfort or hybrid...But which one.

As for price, I'd like to stay under $300, if possible.

I know I'll for to check them out for myself, but I'd like to have some ideas as to what has worked for others in my situation.

I appreciate any direction I can get!

Take care,

Jim

I weighed 250 plus prior to my surgery and I purchased a Sun recumbent bicycle. I love it, easy on the back and so I rode it quite a bit. I now ride a 24 speed. I would sell my recumbent if anyone is interested. It is a two-wheeled recumbent, not a tricycle. If my bike could go to somebody else and help them out, I would be happy. If interested, we can talk about price.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
