I'm needing some sack lunch ideas!

Recommended Posts

I am a bus driver for our local school district. I'm driving for a field trip on Friday (for my daughters class :) ) I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a good cold sack lunch to take with me. Just to let everyone know, I dont do tuna, yogurt, or cottage cheese. LOL Thanks and I cant wait to read your suggestions!

Hi Sadie :)

I'd say go with some an apple or banana, some lean lunch meat, low fat cubed cheese and a few crackers. That always works for me! Granted you may not be able to eat all of it, but it's a good mix of things to keep you full!

Good luck, have fun on the field trip

For my on the go lunches I usual take the following...

Slice of turkey, spread a little cream cheese on it (I use chive flavor) and roll it up. Put that in a baggie, take a cheese stick and a few almonds....and I am good to go!

I do not do on the go very often, so I pretty much just stick to that when I do. I am a creature of habit anyway :).

Good luck on Friday!

I've been addicted to this salad I've been making the last couple weeks and It's so easy!

I warm up a teriyaki chicken breast from Tyson low carb grillers in the frozen food section and I add salad mix, just a few raisins and almonds or cashews. I love the Kraft light Asian toasted sesame dressing to go with it. I bet it would keep just fine as long as you add the dressing when you're ready to eat it and kept it cold with an ice pack.

Hope you have fun!

The other ideas given are great too!

I wouldn't do the lunchable thing....those are anything but health food.

Ham and cheese roll-ups are pretty easy (for that matter it doesn't even have to be ham if you don't like ham) sometimes I used sliced cheeses and sometimes I will use a flavored cheese spread.

Don't forget your Water so that you will be getting your fluids in.

And most importantly.......God Bless YOU on a bus full of kids!!!

Great idea wstorm, Thanks bunches!

That sounds wonderful sillygoose! I have to drive the bus for 3 field trips in next 6 days of school so I'm going to give that a try!

Very true about the lunchables bigmomma! Thanks for the blessing! Ive been driving a bus since December and Ive had a few days that I wondered if this was a correct career choice! LOL I love all the kids on my route and love to some times be the first smiling face they see in the mornings! :)

I think I'm going to do turkey and cheese roll ups, some carrots, and maybe an apple or some sugar free pudding. Lots of Water ofcourse...hope there are bathrooms near us! LOL

Well the field trip went well until we went to skating rink and a lil girl fell and possibly broke her arm in 2 places. I was the closest adult so I got the pleasure of immobalizing it. All I have to say is TGIF! I need a break after todays events!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
