We need your help!! - Stories wanted on pre-surgery success!

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone

My name is Jen and along with my best friend Jodie have set-up a new company called Lap Band for the Mind. Before we were banded we realised that we needed to work on the mind side of things and resolve the underlying issues of why we were overweight in the first place, hence Lap Band for the Mind was born! You can visit our website at Optifast stage as well as tips & tricks to help you along the way.

As you have already been through this, we are looking for people to contribute their own stories about how you prepared for surgery and also any tips & tricks that you used to keep you on the straight and narrow during the Optifast stage (if you did it). It doesn’t need to be War & Peace or a great literary piece, just a couple of paragraphs on your experience.

I don’t know about you, but I always love to hear about other people’s journeys!

In return, we’ll give you a free copy of the eBook so you can see your name up in lights and we’ll also give you a free hypnosis download of your choice. Also, we’d be happy to add your blog link (if you have one) to our ‘Useful Links’ page that will also appear in the eBook.

Thanks for your support.

Jen & Jodes

Hi Everyone

We're still looking for a few more stories to complement our eBook - a big THANKS to those who have contributed already.

All we're after is a paragraph or two addressing the following:

What planning did you do prior to surgery?

What would you have done differently?

What was your experience on the day of surgery?

Apart from the obvious fame that you will have after being published in an eBook :(, as a thank you gift, we'd love to give you a hypnosis mp3 so check out this link to browse what you would like: HypnosisDownloads

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks

Jen

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
