vayiayia 1 Posted April 22, 2009 I’m on day 6 with my LapBand. I can’t wait until I can have an egg or a piece of chicken. Dang, even peas would be a welcomed change from liquids, pudding, plain yogurt, and CREAMED Soups. I see my doc for my post-op on Friday, so maybe I’ll progress to the mushy Proteins & veggies. I have a question. Did any of you ever get air pockets in your throat? It doesn’t matter what I or how slowly eat, I get these annoying air pockets/bubbles in my throat. Then I have to make myself burp to break up the pockets, which seems to take a good 15 - 30 minutes. I look forward to your response. vayiayia
Oregondaisy 2,021 Posted April 22, 2009 You should not be so anxious to advance your diet. Has anyone explained why you need to be on liquids post op? You band needs to heal around your stomach. You need to form adhesions around your band so it will not slip in the future. This can not happen if your stomach is moving which it does when it digests food. Go and look in the complications section of this board and decide if you want to have complications. If you follow your doctors orders to the letter, and still have complications, at least you will know it was nothing you did that caused them. Yes, it's common to feel like you need to burp and can't. Try to sip your liquids slowly so that you are not swallowing air. This gets better with time. You are very new and are still in the healing process.
bignik 0 Posted April 22, 2009 yes i had the bubbles , is it like one would imagine an alka seltzer dissolving in your throat .. I had this especially when in bed lying down , perhaps just because so quiet at that time I notice it more ... as time progresses , you will hear a lot more and wonderous sounds over the next few weeks , I get a growling ... its really strange lol , doc says its normal and not to worry ..
