I knew going into this surgery things were gonna be different...def for the better. BUT since my last fill my bowel patters have gotten a little off. I know not as much in...not as much out. What should be the normal? Everyone is different so I guess it varies but what should be the normal if you use to go every day?

Hi , I am having the same issue so I purchased

Fiber, it has helped me tremendously. You can even get special K fiber Water, or the Fiber One Bars and eat on One Bar the whole day! Another product I use is Fiber Choice (chewables) although they don't tast that great. I've also heard that there is a powder one you can add to food. Good Luck!

I think this must be a universal band problem. My surgery was 3/31 and I have had horrible Constipation since...I had to actually take a laxative last night after waiting 8 DAYS for the issue to work itself out. Needless to say, fiber is my friend. I bought the Benefiber powder and mixed it in with my shake and it's like it not even there...I'm hoping it works!

Well I might explode then! I only go once every one to two weeks now, and I don't get banded until Thursday!!!

I had the same problem and someone suggested stool softners to me. It worked like a CHARM! Apparently the food we eat has a ton of fiber, so the softner helped a LOT!

I haven't been banded yet - just starting the process ... however, I've already have this problem - or should I say - HAD - this problem. A friend of mine told me that her gastroenterologist told her to take 250-500 mg. of magnesium daily and it would regulate her -- she said if that didn't work, increase it by 250 mg. until it did - that you can't OD on magnesium - your body will burn off what it doesn't use. Well, my BF and I both started taking it - You can get a 100-ct. bottle at Target for $2.49. I started taking 500 mg., about 3 weeks ago and now I go every day -- sometimes more than once! Hope that's not TMI!!! Give it a try - hope this helps someone. :rolleyes2::tongue:

If you are having too much Protein you will be constipated - also drink LOTS of Water. You physically must have a BM if you take in enough water.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
