SpiritDriven71 1 Posted April 20, 2009 I work at a desk job and won't have too much time to spare. How much time should I figure that I will need to be home to recover before getting back to the office? Two weeks. That's what I did. It's not just recovering from the actual surgery, butgetting used to the new diet. It takes some time to get adjusted too.
silvers320 12 Posted April 20, 2009 I had the surgery on Friday morning was back in the office on Monday. Monday was a little rough so I maybe should have taken it also. I was on liquids for two weeks after surgery - so my diet required very little extra thought or work to need time off for.
stevef 0 Posted April 21, 2009 I was banded last Wed. and actually went to the office for a few hours on Thursday. I have my own biz and my wife drove so I could check in and do a few things while sitting at my desk. I wouldn't recommend it but I would have been sitting at home worrying so I figured I'd rather be miserable at the shop than at home. I put in a full day on Friday and that went very well. I'm fortunate to have a desk job in this situation. I actually think that the routine of work makes the diet part much easier. It's tough sitting at home over the weekend with the kitchen just around the corner...
mediummike 0 Posted April 21, 2009 The tough part for me was not pain (very little) but just getting comfortable to sleep. I am a side sleeper and had to adjust sleeping on my back in a lounge chair. Through off my sleep schedule a bit but I would say a week or so should do it...

I am a side sleeper and slept the first almost two weeks in my lazy boy. Me and the wife got tired of that. I am fine now. I had surgery on Thursday and went to work on Monday. RMG88 0 Posted April 23, 2009 I hadn't realized that the procedure requires sleeping on my back rather than my side, but seems to be the case based on the last couple of responses in this chain. Is that right -- you have to sleep on your back during recovery? How long?
stevef 0 Posted April 23, 2009 The first night I couldn't sleep on my left side as it was sore and it was tough to roll over so I ended up on my back or a little bit on my right side. By the 3rd night I was sleeping easily on either side. Thanks, Steve
