Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Stretching

Recommended Posts

I have been banded since 4/7 and I think I have already made some mistakes. I am most concerned about stretching. I have experienced discomfort but thought it was result of just doing without pain meds, but after reading posts, I am worried.

My question is, how does the stomach return to a smaller size? I am going for my follow-up surgery appt early this evening and plan to ask.

I know I have been consuming too much, too frequently especially after looking at posts. I thought I was ready for this, but I guess there is more to the psychological part of this (not unexpected, just hard).

Hi JudyLynn,

I was banded on 4/7 too! I am feeling the same way you are.... eating too much and worried that I have already stretched my pouch. The psychological part is the worst. I do feel a little restriction, but have not been listening to my body like I should and stop eating. I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone.

What did they say at your follow-up appt?

Shelly

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
