I'm 6 days post op -15 lbs lost. I just tried on my jeans that fit before the 2wk pre-op diet and surgery and they're too tight now. It would've hurt to try and button them. Am I that bloated????? Anyone else have this problem? Anyone able to wear jeans immediatedly?

I was heavier coming out of the hospital than going in. My take on it is 1. They pump in gas for surgery. 2. Body builds up Fluid as part of the healing process. It took me about 2 weeks for things to settle back down. Also you slid up a little when you start on mushy and soild foods.

They pump your abdominal cavity full of gas at the start of surgery to give them a little more room to work it. It has to be absorbed by your body and disposed of in urine. Give it a little time.

HI, I also had this problem. I think it took around 3 weeks for my system to settle down. When I first tried on my pants I was so discouraged I could have cried. Two weeks later I figured what the heck I'll give it another try and see what happens. Well, they fit with a little room to spare. Thank God. So, be patient and it will happen for you also. Best of Luck to you.

I am 7 days post-op and 15 pounds lighter since the day of surgery.....my jeans still fit the same, I've .lost weight everywhere, so I figure it's still the gas....hopefully!! I'm going to have a skinny body and huge stomach one day if not!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
