Marine mom 3 Posted April 18, 2009 Just starting the process. Went to the seminar, and will make the first appt. on Monday. Nervous as all get out. My husband, otoh, would love to gain 10 pounds and do it. Anyway, glad to have found you all!
Rangergirl 0 Posted April 18, 2009 Welcome! Seminar, dr appt, and it seems like the next thing you know you are doing the pre-op diet. Well it wasn't that fast but time really flies. My DH is the same way. When we started dating 35 yrs ago he weighed 117 lbs and I weighed 118 and I have out weighed him the majority of these years. He has put on 50 lbs and I am proud of each one so to speak. :tt1: Good luck and remember it is natural to be a little nervous.
june09bandit 0 Posted April 18, 2009 Hi Missy! I was super nervous for that first appt as well. Little did I know, the surgeon's office staff was awesome. They must realize how stressed we are. I've never been around as many kind people trying to help me relax. You'll be fine, and oh so relieved after that appointment. My lesson learned - I should have asked them what all documentation they needed from my PCP. I took 5 years of medical records with me, but they also needed a letter of medical necessity from my PCP. Waiting on this letter added a few days. I also recommend going to whatever psychologist they recommend. That person will already know exactly how to write up the letter for your insurance to help sway the odds in your favor! Good luck and keep us posted! Marine mom 3 Posted April 18, 2009 It seems like there is so much to do. It never occurred to me that I would need all of the info for the first appt. I guess it is like most things, they are easier when you get your feet wet!
june09bandit 0 Posted April 18, 2009 You don't necessarily "need" to have it, I just wanted to speed things up as much as possible. I guess I'm just horribly impatient. Once I decided that this was right for me, I didn't want any extra delays. Good luck!
