carbgrl 0 Posted April 18, 2009 How long before you could sleep on your side? My back is hurting from laying flat on my back all the time. I'm walking around, sitting up most of the day but, I'm used to sleeping on my sides mostly.
GreyhoundGirl 0 Posted April 18, 2009 I was able to sleep on my rightside at the hospital after surgery (my port is on my leftside) The only way I was able to lay on my side was to take a pillow and press it to my stomach as I rolled slowly to my side. After about 10 days it didn't hurt much at all to lay on my side. I can now lay on my leftside without any issues. (Banded 3/30/09)
bambam 0 Posted April 18, 2009 I'm the same way. I can only sleep on my side. I was sleeping on my side immediately after surgery. They gave me a pillow in the hospital and like greyhoundgirl I too used it to help roll from side to side. Once home I did the same thing every night for about 7-10 days. Just using a thin pillow crossways across your stomach seems to help support and cushion your incisions.
BearSpiritGuide 0 Posted April 18, 2009 I did exactly what the two posters above did. Just go slow. Funny thing: when I lay on my left side now - my port side - I always burp right away. Roll to right, no burp. Roll to left, burp. Its weird. -BSG
carbgrl 0 Posted April 18, 2009 Thanks for the tips! I tried to use the pillow to roll to my right a day or two ago and it hurt to much. It felt like something was pulling. I tried again last night and it worked. It felt soooo good.:tt1: My back was poppin and grinding like you wouldn't believe!
