Help! Old Habits Returning!!

Recommended Posts

Wow, this was the reason I came to the board today...and will go to a support group tonight. I hope to get my third fill Thursday (banded 1/20, and so far have about 3.5ccs in the 14 cc band). Ever since Easter I have had more cravings than ever - I was pretty good at Easter, though I did have tastes of everything, including apple crisp, I didn't go overboard. I have successfully staved off the drive to McDonalds, ordering a Subway meatball sand., I have given in to having some Ritz baked flavored crackers and a few mini chocolates. I wish I would just feel full (except in the early morning - that is not a problem, and I'm hoping with a fill it doesn't get worse?)

Hi all! I too am going through the same thing. I've only had one fill and am at 4.5 cc's. I do not have restriction so I'm dieting. I've never been stuck, slimed, pb'd or any of the sort. I do make good food choices and I exercise 6 days a week. I am losing but not as fast as I'd hoped. Unfortunately, my doctor's office won't just let you come in for a fill. They schedule them 6 weeks apart. I go in for my 2nd fill next week. I'm gonna see if he'll give me another aggressive fill. I'll keep you posted and hang in there everyone!

Hi All,

Thanks for sharing your stories and offering advice, I am soooo grateful to know that it's not just me! I had a second fill today of 1cc to make my total 5ccs in a 10cc band. I've been having some difficulty swallowing and hope that once the feeling goes away (tomorrow???) it will lead to better restriction that I can still handle.

Miriam,

How are you feeling today? Are you still having difficulty swallowing? Do you have great restriction now?

Thanks for asking, I am feeling better today after a rough night. I couldn't sleep on my stomach because I felt too much pressure. Swallowing has definitely become easier. Not completely back to normal, but getting there! I'm looking forward to Saturday when I can go back to solids to see if this restriction level is different.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
