Hello everyone, My name is Lisa and I live in Oregon, I am just starting the process for the Lab band, I have made my first step and went to the informational seminar. I also checked with insurance and I'm covered. I will have an apt on the 27th for my doctor to write the referral..Very nervous and very hopeful at the same time..I have been overweight the majority of my life. I have three kids, 6,4, and 2..I want to be here for them...I don;t have any questions at the moment, just wanted to introduce myself, I'm so glad there is a place for me to come to for information...thank you..look forward to any advice..

Hi and welcome, I live in the UK. Well done for making the decision to go ahead with surgery, its a big step. I am currently on the pre-op diet which is two weeks of nothing more than fluids with a few jelly pots thrown in for good measure. Its tougher than i anticipated, and if its a pre-requisite of whats to come then I know i'm going to have to be strong and committed.

Like you I was a tubby child that turned into a fat teenager thats turned into an obese adult, I yo-yo'd for years and then I had my son in 2003 and weight just wouldn't shift. I developed Diabetes type 2 and Hypertension, I spoke to my Dr and she made me read up loads on the internet on Bariatric medicine, and here I am 6 months later on my pre-op diet and my surgery is scheduled for next Friday 24th. I wanted to improve my health so I would be around to see my son grow-up and with luck his kids too.

This site has proved invaluable for hints tips and information, even in the short time I've been using it. I know it will help you to.

The surgery is the easy part I'm sure of that, its the living with the band and its restrictions thats the hard part.:rolleyes2:

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
