Stressed from the Stress Tests

Recommended Posts

I am so frustrated and disappointed. :rolleyes2: I was scheduled for my banding tomorrow morning but have had to put it off for a couple of weeks due to inclusive stress tests. First, you know how you have to have the standard EKG? Mine showed a tiny abnormal result (which was probably due to me being stressed for being a few minutes late after being hung up in traffic) so I had to schedule a bicycle stress test. The girl said the target was to get my heart rate to 140 and I told her she wasn't going to get it that high as I am on 3 bp meds and I have a naturally slow heart beat, well she got me to 120 and stopped the test. Low and behold drs office called and said they wanted me to have an echocardiogram to get my hr to 140. I'm ok with that. Well, this girl was having a problem seeing a portion of my heart due to "the girls" being dense so now they want me to have the nuclear stress test done but that can't be done until next Thursday. I don't have a problem with that it just means I have a good surgeon who wants to make sure I do good during surgery. I am just disappointed. Sorry for this being long winded. Surgery is tentatively scheduled now for May 1st which means I am on the pre-op diet for two more weeks but the good news is I have lost 10 lbs.

I am so sorry! I know that sucks--the waiting and the pre-op diet! Hang in there:welldoneclap:, it's not too far away. :rolleyes2:

Thanks. I know logically it will work out but I still worry that something will come up and keep me from having the surgery.

Hi Rangergirl, I had nuclear stress test, here took two days as med has to absorb. Short trip first day, longer the second. My result showed "abnormality" which everyone including the radiologist said was due to the girl (s). I can imagine when you're all set to go this delay is hard. I exspected surgery in Jan 08. Had to change insurances, original said go etc., second was "we like people to try on their own for 6 months or more" then have surgery. So mine was Dec 09. Found out I could do pretty good on my own...45 lbs. So you'll lose more pre-op and feel more motivated. Your date is around the corner!

Thanks again for the encouragement Spud.mama and Susie 46.

They say the test will be done in one day actually 3 hours and get the results the following week. It is the waiting that's hard. I know it will happen eventually and the time will fly by just like this year has. Hard to believe it is almost May.

Patience is a virture at least that I tell my husband when he gets impatient.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
