leah 0 Posted August 31, 2005 I am seriously considering doing this Lap-Band thing, I'm 5'3, about 270lbs and have a BMI of 47. I hear a lot about how you have to chew everthing to mush. Will this affect my ability to take my meds and supplements in pill and capsule form?
Parvathi 2 Posted August 31, 2005 Depending on what medications you're on, it could be some stuff you'll eventually go off of after surgery. Most pills I've had to take though, can be crushed, chopped, or bought in a liquid form. Probably something you'd want to discuss with your doctor.
Kelliebelly 13 Posted August 31, 2005 I take 2 tablets daily and have had no probs with them at all. I also take a tablet for reflux every couple of days and it is pretty big and I havent had probs with that either.
Jessiebear 2 Posted August 31, 2005 I take Vitamins, blood pressure meds, aspirin, Claritin & back pain meds. I thought I would have a problem taking these, but I'm 8 months out with 3 fills & I have had absolutely no problems! Everyone is different though.
giveyouthemoon 4 Posted August 31, 2005 I have to swallow slowly and take some time, but I swallow a pretty big capsule twice a day. It can be done, but like everything else that goes in your mouth with the band, it must be approached *slowly*.
