Hi Ebony

Navigating isn't too hard.... You can choose a forum from the main forum page and browse in a particular area: At the bottom of every screen there is a "Forum Jump" box with a drop-down menu of all of them.

You can search a particular topic using the search feature: at the top of every screen just below the main LapBandTalk banner there is another bar that runs all the way accross the screen. The top right section of that bar shows you where you are. The top left shows you who you are and whether or not you have any Private Messages (PM's). In white letters accross the whole thing are places you can go and things you can do. Click around up there and experiment a little. The SEARCH function will let you type in a key word or two and find threads about that topic.

I hope this helps with your navigating. You can send me or any other member a PM by clicking on the person's screen name and using the drop down menu that appears.

Feel free to ask any questions.

:]

We're all here to support you! You couldn't have picked a better place! I am so excited for you! I think that you will find the surgery a breeze! The worst part being the gas pain. Just remember to walk, use over the counter gas remedies (gas-x, simethicone, phazyme, beano, etc.), heating pad on the tummy, rolling around in the bed & the only thing that gave me relief.....glycerine suppositories! Once the gas passes (no pun intended...LOL) you're gonna feel great! This is the easiest surgery I ever went through! I didn't even use pain medicine after surgery.I was back to normal in about a week. Have you ever had surgery before? And remember, it is totally normal to be nervous before anykind of surgical procedure! Just keep reading the posts. They made me feel better than anything! ((((((hugs)))))............Jess

I was just banded on monday and I can tell you the gas is about the worst part. I walked a little but I was sore as all get out. It is now the third day and I feel a whole lot better. I am getting hungry alot but when I drink my Protein or Water I get full pretty quickly. I have lost 16 lbs since the surgery maybe this is water weight but I will take it! LOL I am gonna make sure I follow all the rules so my band can work for me. In order for the band to work you are gonna have to work with it! I am on my way and you will be too. This is a great decision if you want to take control of your eating and health.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
