BearSpiritGuide 0 Posted April 15, 2009 I am 1 week post-op and I am just never hungry... It takes me 2 to 3 hours in the morning to get down 1 Atkins shake. then another 2 hours to get down 6 ounces of Water, then another 2-3 hours to get down some Soup, then back to water... I know most of my tiredness is due to lack of nutrition, but I cannot get any food in. Any suggestions? -BSG
ParrotheadCathy 0 Posted April 15, 2009 You're still swollen post-op. Try having something hot to start your day, like a cup of tea of coffee. Then see if other things go down easier. If you can't get any relief, talk to your doctor's office! I can imagine that you are possibly dehydrated as well as hungry.
tiffanye 0 Posted April 15, 2009 i used Unjury Protein mix in my crystal light. It really helped curve the hungry.
josephine 1 Posted April 15, 2009 BSG, As they said you are still swollen and it will eventually come. It is most important to get the Protein in if you can before anything else. If you aren't hungry then you should stay away from the Water which has no nutritional value and drink liquid Soup and Liquid Protein. I too wasn't hungry at all after surgery and that caused me to lose 32 lbs. my first month but the hair was going as well due to lack of Protein.< /p> Once your body begins to get back to normal you should then begin drinking your Water. There is no doubt that the water helps you stay full so take it easy with that for right now. Josephine
Bikerbabe40 0 Posted April 15, 2009 I agree with whatever everyone else says, but I drink Ensure or Boost,, gives me all my Vitamins and nutrients, and they have great flavours. Plus I take a great chewable Vitamin everyday.
BearSpiritGuide 0 Posted April 15, 2009 Thanks guys that all makes sense... I will focus on not so much Water and more Protein - think I'm gonna try Isopure. Sorry for your hair loss. My wife actually prefers me bald, so I would not mind the hair loss... but I think shaving my head is a better option there. -Jim
josephine 1 Posted April 15, 2009 Jim, Thankfully the hair grew back of course and I have been maintaining my weight loss for almost 3 years now. I still have to make myself eat meals though so I guess my band went exactly the way everyone would dream it to. Much luck and success on your new life. JayTee562 1 Posted April 15, 2009 I too haven't been very hungry and DR. messed up my plans for Protein Shakes when he said Clear Liquids till I see him post-op. I've been eating a cup of broth, a couple SF popcicles and a bit of Jello. I went to GNC today and got some Isopure Zero Carb Alpine Punch it mixes well with Water where I went had it on sale it doesn't taste bad but a little sweet.
