Hi

I will be banded a week from today. Can anyone tell me what proecdure is better the 3 incision or just the one longe incision, and what incision heals the faster.

Ebony, I believe the one long incision is the Open method, which would definately be a longer and more difficult recovery and healing period. This is one of the advantages of the Lap Band. It can be done Laporoscopically (sp?) which is pretty minimally invasive.

Also, mine was done laporoscopically and I have 5 incision places. See the Scar Stages thread. It's a sticky, let me know if you can't find it. You will find it interesting. Keep researching! You need to learn all you can by next week!!!

I was sore and very very tired. Moved slow. The pain was fine. Certainly better than my 2 C-sects, but what got me the most was the fatigue from the lack of calories. I had a slower recovery. It was almost 2 weeks before I felt like I was really on the mend. Don't be scared, it isn't bad.

How much weight are you wanting to lose? What part of this globe are you from?

For me I had minimal pain and only took liquid tylenol and I have a very low threshold for pain. I was amazed at how good I felt the day after surgery, so good in fact that I took a cab to downtown TJ for some shopping and walking. Walking is key to help rid the gas which ill relieve the pain, alot of the pain was from gas..so walk as soon as you can, I walked the halls constantly immediately following surgery. I made my husband get me up and walk every hour

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
