Dang! I will say I gave 12 viles at once. I was secretly praying the guy would have a steady hand as he switched out the tubes. I really didn't want to have another stick! LOL

After everyone's surgery I'll tell you my story

JT- You're freaking me out again...collated & stapled (ok, I know I'm not getting stapled)...now what?! LOL!

From my blog here yesterday (had my pre-op physical)...

I went on to give my gallon of blood (had to point out my best vein as usual...I have 'bad veins')...

Ok I promised I’d tell my blood story after all the April Bunnies had their surgery…well I forgot to post it but Band Groupie reminded me and found the thread so here is goes.

The morning of my surgery I was in the little preop room and the nurse was getting me already. She started looking for a vein to put the IV in and I warned her that I have tough veins and they often roll out from under the needle. She decided to go in on the back of my hand and got couched down and let me hand drop down the side of the cart. I got a good one she exclaimed a nurse out side the room looked in and said yes you did. She was wiping my hand a bit and said that it was better then she thought and she had to clean a little off my hand. She left long enough for me to look over the side of my gurney and I saw a pool of my blood on the floor I’m not sure how much but it looked like a lot to me about 5 or 6 inches across and looked like it had some depth. When she got the IV in me she said I’d feel it quicker cause she had the drip set a little higher than usual to make up for the blood I had lost.

JT- I said "spill the BEANS", not "the BLOOD"! Wow, and I thought giving all those tiny vials was bad! Thanks for the story!

Probably not as dramatic as I implied it would be but I didn't want anyone to freak before all the April Bandsters had their surgery.

JT- LOL...OK, needles and blood don't bother me too much, but looking down and seeing blood dripping down your hand and a big puddle on the floor...I would have freaked a little!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
