Soreness around my port area after walking

Recommended Posts

My co-workers have organized a power walk everyday around 1:00 PM. They would walk about 45 minutes - around 1.5 miles. I joined them today. I tried to catch up with them as they walked faster than I did (they are all taller and slimmer than I am). In the course of walking, I felt the area to the left of my incision / port (my port is located right above the big incision) sore. It was bearable soreness. I am just wondering if it is okay to continue walking with them even though I might feel a little soreness around my port area.

My port area is sore sometimes with exercise, especially if I'm doing something new. It is on your abdominal wall and doing activities that your body is not yet used to will naturally cause some soreness here. It should go away. If it does not, talk with you Dr.

Thanks, after the walking, the soreness does go away. Sounds like I should keep up with the good tradition in our office and continue to walk with them for 50 minutes a day.

You're welcome. I notice it most when I'm doing aerobics, but it is usually gone by the next day. Good luck! :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
