Getting ready-need some help!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

:)Ok-I back again looking for some guidance. Im coming up to six weeks post op and my doctor said this would be the time for my first fill. This is all so new to me - how do I know I need it? I know theres no magic bell that goes off but what did everyone who's had one know it was time. In my gut (no pun intended) I really feel I need one. The reason for this is that I seem to be able to eat more that I think I should be eating. I get hungry pretty often, almost every 3-4 hours. I've heard that I should'nt let myself get hungry but boy this whole thing a real balace act. Some time my head tells me to eat but my stomach feels full then other times my stomach grumbles and I then know I should eat, but I feel I've waited too long and probably eat alittle too much. I havent eaten the wrong things. Can't believe have had no bread products for over a month now!!!!!! But I sure do lovvvve low fat wheat thins. Should I be counting calories? Does everyone count calories?

I hate the thought of doing that. What do you all do to keep your eating plan together? Did anyone come up with a specific formula pre-fill and post-fill? Im alittle concerned that this day is coming. How often do you weigh yourself to know what your loss is?

If I've gone on too long I apologize but I really count on everything I get from this site.

Thank you,

Micki

The counting calories issue concerns me too. I do not want to live my life obsessed with the little buggers.

What I want to be able to do is eat when I'm hungry, eat what I want (and sometimes that will be bad, lol) and only eat to the point of being satisfied. I feel if I do that, then calorie wise it should naturally fall into place.

Thin people as a general rule do not go about counting calories. To count calories (or WW points) to me means you start going - I really want that Mars Bar but its 5 points so if I eat no Breakfast and just have an apple for lunch then I can have it AND have a wine at dinner time. That's self defeating if you ask me.

Yet you do need to know what you're putting in your mouth so I'd say at least during the actual weight loss phase, you need to be counting, and certainly when you hit a plateau.

my doctor made me lose 10 % of my excess body fat before allowing me to have the surgery. it was not an insurance requirement. Every insurance is different and so is every doc. nothing is written in stone (would be sooooo much easier if it were).

best of luck with your fill.

I weigh once a week..no more then that or you become obsessed or discouraged. It is a sure way to sabatoge myslef if I weigh more then once a week.

I do not count calories..I just count Protein to make sure I'm getting in 60 grams a day

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
