I'm not sure if this is band related or not but I figured I'd ask here and see if it happened to anyone else. I had my 2nd fill about a week and a half ago and everything has been great, still have little restriction. Over the last 2 days I've gotten stuck a few times because of my own stupidity in not chewing well enough but it passed right through after about 2 minutes with no problems. Yesterday and tonight I've had what feels like muscular pain in my chest. It's located right around my sternum. It hurts sometimes when I breathe in and when I move around and when I sneeze. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and could be band related or if I just pulled something maybe? Thanks for the help!

It is probably your esophagus that is hurting. From my experience we can get stuck in two different areas, above the band or at the band.

1.) When we don't chew enough or swallow something that is too big to pass through the band opening it usually results in sliming. You will be uncomfortable, gaggy and sliming until the food dislodges itself.

2.) When we don't eat the right way (too fast, not chewing, too much...) the food gets stuck trying to pass into the pouch. The food backs up into the esophagus and you can get chest pain. You may also cough or burp the food up.

You probably have some swelling from your stuck episode and should take it easy for a while and use this as a lesson to take small bites, chew and eat slowly.

Oh wow. I never thought about my esophagus but you're right, the food definitely got stuck above the band and not at the band, although I didn't pb or slime which was nice. Thanks for your help!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
