newmecomingdownthestreet 0 Posted April 13, 2009 Have most of you had to have pre-op tests such as blood and EKGs etc? My doctor stated I didn't have to have those tests which concerned me. Thanks
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted April 13, 2009 I can not believe they are going to do surgery on you and not have current blood work. The ecg...maybe or maybe not depending on your age, weight, symptoms, etc. But not blood work. Although I would need to know more about your situation (are you under the care of a PCP? Did you just have bloodwork done?) but initially I agree that the lack is troublesome.
newmecomingdownthestreet 0 Posted April 13, 2009 My BMI is 40. Age 40. Dr. Kirshenbaum is my lap band Dr. I don't know if they wait and do blood work during my visit the week before surgery. He said no EKG though. So what do you all think about no pre-op tests? I am worried.
RestlessMonkey 7 Posted April 13, 2009 Well, preop IS preop. Not a month ahead etc. Odds are that yes they will be done that week and why have you duplicate? They want the MOST current data. No reason to have you do it earlier because they will want it just a few days preop. Call and see if they are doing the tests while you are there (both an ecg and blood work) if so, then that IS your preop testing.
