Come On SC!

Recommended Posts

I am from Sumter, SC but moved to Atlanta in July. We get back home at least once a month. I am still in the starting stages of the banding process.

A proctor is a Dr. that has performed many of the techniques being done , such as the lapband and is basically watching over the Dr. that is performing the surgery that is still new to him. I go Nov 28 for my lecture and will start my journey from there.

Woodruff is in Spartanburg Co. off I 26. Just a small qiet town. The kind I like ! Thank you for your e-mail

CindyJ Thanks for the information and good luck. I kind of like the small towns too. I am from Lugoff. It doesn't get much smaller than that.

Hi, I was banded in mexico in 2006. I am in Myrtle Beach SC, and orignally

from Albany GA. I go to Moultrie GA to Fill Centers of America. They band people who had surgery anywhere, and it only cost $165.00. I was also told there was a fill center in Denver NC. I would like to find a support group in Myrtle Beach. Hope this helps.

Hey there SC folks! I was born in Woodruff, raised in Spartanburg. I lived in Lee County for about 6 years in the 90's. I live in Lexington now, and have been in the Columbia area for the past 11 years. I was banded 2/19/08 by Dr. Antonetti of Riverside Surgical at Lexington Medical Center.

Welcome to the board tskelli. As you can tell there doesn't seem to be a lot of activity on it. Which is too bad because I think there are a lot of banded SC folks out there.

I see you used Dr. Antonetti. I am a patient of his also and have been very pleased.

Good luck with your journey.

Thanks for the response! I have no complaints about Dr. Antonetti and staff. I had a good experience at LMC. This is one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Do you live in Columbia? Do you ever attend the support group meetings? Does Dr. Antonetti do your fills?

Thanks again! Kelli

I actually live in Lugoff, but work in Columbia. I haven't done the support groups. I probably should, but I stay crazy busy most of the time. Dr. Antonetti has done 2 of my fills and James the assistant has done the other.

Hi Everyone I am new to this sight also. It really is full of alot of information. I was banded January 4,08 at Rochester General in Rochester NY. I weighed 221lbs and now weigh 180lbs it was the best decision I ever made I couldnt be happier. My question is we are moving to Mauldin,SC at the beginning of July and need to find a Doctor in the area. I found a group of doctors that work together in Greenville,SC. They are Dr.Boar,Dr.Cobb,Dr. Carbanel so if any of you are familiar and can give me some feedback it would be really appreciated. I am very happy with my Dr. here but you have to do what you have to sometimes. Thank You!!!!!

Hey, Traci! Glad you're here! I don't really have any info for doctors in the upstate, but you may find information in the Doctors and Hospitals forum. Great job on the weight loss so far!

I was born and raised in Spartanburg, which isn't too far from Mauldin, but I moved from there a long time ago. My dad still lives up that way, so I go visit from time to time. I hope your move goes smoothly! Keep us updated!

I lived in Rock Hill all of my life until we moved about 7 miles to York 2 years ago. I am in the preliminary stages right now. The doctor I am going to is at Lexington Medical Center and I had to attend one info group meeting, I have an appt with him April 8, and I hear everyone has to have counseling. So with all that if they accept me, maybe June to August for surgery. I can't wait. I am so sick of looking and feeling like this. Glad to know there are others close by going through the same things and we can talk.:cursing:

I'm also being banded by Dr. Antonetti on 5/13. Went to seminar on 3/3. I'm self-pay so it's moving pretty fast. Only slowdown is they're 6wks into surgery schedule. I'm on pre-op diet and wait list in hopes of being moved up!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
