Ok this is just annoying. What do I need to do to make this stop.

I have had my band for 4 days and I cannot get any sleep because I drool constantly. I have taken to keeping a towel on my pillow and letting my mouth be open and let it soak into the towel. Gross!

Is this just something that will go away, or is there a better way to deal with this issue?

Hi BSG, Sounds like you're having a really rough time of it. :cool2: From what I can gather, your situation seems highly unusual - never heard of this before?!? Sliming usually happens when there's a blockage but it's just temporary and then passes. Could be you're really swollen? I'd recommend seeing your doctor as soon as possible.

Sounds like your stomach is probably pretty swollen and creating more restriction than you'd normally have with an empty band. My guess is that as the swelling goes down in the next few days you won't have the restriction and the sliming will stop. But you should call your doctor is your not sure.

Well, I figured out part of the issue (ha - no pun in intended, but I'll take it anyway). Some of the Fluid was bile, so I thought maybe I needed to take some of the gas meds they gave me. Took that and it calmed down quite a bit, but there is still the saliva.

Still hard to sleep when I am only able to get about 10 minutes snatches here and there.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
