Hi Folks,

I did a search, but could not really find much. Sushi is one of my favorite foods, being fish based I am hoping it can possibly be on the post LB life. While I am fully prepared to let it go from my life, I wanted to see if people who have been Lapbanded still enjoy it and in what forms...if at all?

Thanks,

Cingulus

I could eat sushi early on when I had less fill but, that only lasted until the third fill (10cc band). I now have trouble with anything that is layered like sushi and sashimi is a little too thick and tough for me now. It could be very different for you, though. Some very fortunate people can still eat steak, sushi, and pork chops easily but I'm not one of them. If you do try it, make sure you do it at home first so that you can avoid any potentially embarrassing situations. I do still eat a lot of fish though. In fact, that's the majority of the Protein that I get.

Good luck with your surgery and enjoy seeing those lbs. melt away. Giving up some of your favorite foods is seriously worth that experience!

I think having 1 or 2 pieces of sushi on a weekly basis is okay. It won't do much of damage. That way you don't feel completely deprived of it.

i eat sushi often (today in fact for lunch), every now / then the sticky rice is a problem - but i have a lot of my favorite rolls made w/cucumber ribbon.

i would have a had a hard time giving up sushi - good luck w/your surgery.

Hi Luluc,

If you eat sushi often, will it slow down your weight loss pace? After all, Sushi is still mostly carbs. I am not trying to preach, just wondering. Sushi is also one of my favorits.

sushi is also a great source of Protein - add some edamame in to the picture as well....

it's a very healthy choice of meal & i've not had any plateau that i could contribute to wkly sushi......i've stop losing, but i also think i'm maintaining at the moment.

carbs (good ones) - i keep them in my diet & don't track, i need them for as active as i am.

I love (ed) Sushi- I was informed by both physician and dietician no more after banding- 1 rice getting stuck- 2 peices being too big. So before my pre=op diet- I had a sushi fiesta- haha- and got my fill.....

I do miss it maybe one day I will be able to again but now am too afraid....

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
