Band-friendly restaurants

Recommended Posts

Do any you in the DFW area know which restaurants are band-friendly? I understand if it is against policy to let an adult order off the kids menu, but it sure would be nice to order small portions. I'm not crazy about taking food home and sometimes not in a position to do so. I would appreciate your input.

I'm not at DFW but if you explain to the waiter/waitress they usually willlet you order off the kids menu. Also, when I'm with my husband he orders a large plate and I share with him.

MsLittle,

There are many restaurants that allow you to eat off the childrens menu but may upcharge you $1.00. You may show your banded card to Sweet Tomatoes and they will charge you the children's price which is $4.95. The Keg Restaurant, Denny's, Chili's, Outback Steak House, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Cracker Barrel, Applebees, and Golden Corral. All of these allow you to eat off of the the childrens menu or will just upcharge you just a bit. Just remember though not to get angry in case they don't only because it is our choice how much we newly began to start eating.

You can even ask if they have half orders too. With my husband I won't share a meal with him but sometimes I ask him to ask for an add on of something and I will get a side of something else.

Another choice would be to order off the appetizer or salad menu. You could also order off the side menu or the ala carte menu.

I appreciate the info onthe restaurants that allow you to order off the kids menu.

Crackerbarrel is pretty good. They have tons of side orders.

We went there today and I ordered 1 pancake and a side order of hashbrowns. I was only able to have a few bites, but I didn't feel overwhelmed with all this food in front of me.

They always have a Soup and a lot of good veggie sides you can order. They even have applesauce.

The have a sugar free apple pie and sugar free ice cream topping. I had that once, it was pretty good.

Thanks for the good info. I was at Cracker Barrel this am and they very nice about me ordering off the kid's menu. I'm looking forward to going to the other places and getting a more reasonable portion. Maybe the waiters won't come by and ask me"Is everything alright?" if I don't look so overwhelmed at this giant plate of food! The bad part is, I could haven't eaten the WHOLE THING before my band. Unbelieveable!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
