popcorn is definitely at the top of my DO NOT EAT list from my doctor! I even made a point to ask at one of my post-op visits when I saw that some people in here mentioned that they were eating it. Along with CARBONATED beverages - that also made "the list"...not at all good for us banders.

I feel that we went to our physicians because they are the professionals - and are paid to know their business. I take my lead from them. So far so good...my weight loss is constant and I feel GREAT!

I enjoy popcorn on occasion. My doctor hasn't said one way or the other whether I should eat it. I think because it is a whole grain that it isn't a bother for me. Hope you're as lucky. :cool2:

Man, I'm so jealous!! I cannot do popcorn =( It has nothing to do with getting stuck either. I've tried it twice since being banded and both times I have terrible stomach cramps afterwards. I have no idea what the deal is. The same thing happens if I eat red meat so I've had to cut that out too :cool2:

Before the band, I use to eat popcorn almost everyday as a snack. Now it is very difficult for me to eat. It gets stuck after a couple of pieces so I do not eat it that much anymore. It is the same situation with a lot of carbs like french fries, chips, bread. I have definitely had to change my eating habits.

My surgeon is another who says we should be able to eat all foods. (except carbonated bevs, and I'm going to ask about that one next time I'm there). I get full on it faster and he doesn't want us snacking, but popcorn goes down fine! :cool2:

I saw your post yesterday and my daughter was making popcorn so I tried some. No problem at all. My doctor does not recommend popcorn as a snack though. True it does not have many calories (if it isn't caramel or buttered), but it also has no nutritional value. My doctor suggested beef Jerky. So, that is what I take to movies now. I lso keep some at my desk and at home. It is surprisingly filling, has very low fat and is a good source of Protein.< /p>

I am a pop-aholic! I love popcorn. I am very restricted and really have very little problem eating popcorn. I fill-up much faster and can not eat as much as before.... but that is the purpose of the band. It works!! :)

My son and I shared a bowl of popcorn last night (late) and I went straight to bed. I was up off and on all night. I was sooo uncomfortable. I was bloated, my chest hurt, I just didn't feel right. I don't think my body liked popcorn. Never again.
